When I put on my glasses
am I seeing the world
or am I just seeing
it's reflection?

I was on the train once in Chicago. There was a lady who kept fidgeting like she had some sort of disorder or something, like tourette's. There was a couple sitting across from her and one of them made a caddy comment that she must not like black people or she must be afraid of black people. And the lady heard it, of course, like most caddy comments like that it's said loud enough for everyone to hear. The lady started getting all weepy, and she turned to another person across from her and said she couldn't help it, she had some sort of syndrome; I forgot what she said. The lady ended up getting off the train before the people who had made the caddy comment and before getting off she said to them “well, I'm getting off now, I hope you're happy.” As she was getting off the train the lady who had made the caddy comment said “crazy bitch.”
Now, mother, do you understand why we say things like once you've lived in Chicago you'll never have to fear hell? Because, well, could it really be any worse than Chicago?

The truth is
No matter how many times
you restart the computer
it will never tell you
what you want to hear.

Summer is
fading into fall
maybe the world isn't
So bad after all.
